The Bavarian Research Alliance GmbH (BayFOR) is a company promoting Bavaria as a centre for science and innovation within the European Research Area. It supports and advises Bavarian scientists and stakeholders from the private sector on European research funds, focusing on the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation “Horizon 2020” (minimum condition for this free-of-charge-service: one partner from Bavaria must be part of the consortium). To achieve this, BayFOR provides subject-specific information and offers strategic advice and active support for the initiation and development of projects, setting up international research consortia, development of appropriate budget calculations, submitting applications, setting up consortia agreements, conducting grant preparation with the European Commission (responsible DGs, REA etc.). If a European research project is co-ordinated within Bavaria, BayFOR will also be able to take over the role as project partner for administrative project management or PR/communication issues.
The 18th European Forum on Eco-innovation in Barcelona will be attended by BayFORs unit "environment, energy & bioeconomy" (http://www.bayfor.org/en/organisation/team.php#14). This unit has a strong focus on open/forthcoming European work programs within H2020 and other appropriate European funding schemes for research & innovation. The scientific officers in BayFORs unit can also provide access to Bavarian stakeholders (academia, industry and public authorities) related to the topics of the eco-innovation event in Barcelona (see also additional presentation attached to this profile). Expectations with regard to the offered matchmaking event in Barcelona: knowing new partners for further European proposals, open for cooperation with Bavarian institutions.
As a partner organization within the “Enterprise Europe Network”, BayFOR provides specific advice to SMEs interested in European R&I-projects and helps them to identify appropriate project partners and funding instruments. BayFOR’s EU Liaison Office in Brussels represents the interests of Bavarian universities at the European level. It increases their visibility and acts as an intermediary in establishing contacts with European institutions. BayFOR also coordinates the joint activities of the Bavarian Research Associations and supports their networking efforts at the European level. Finally, the Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Québec / Alberta / International within BayFOR provides support for bilateral and multilateral research projects from these regions. BayFOR is also a partner institution in the Bavarian “House of Research” (“Haus der Forschung”: www.hausderforschung.bayern.de/en).
