The National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro) is a Brazilian public entity, created by law in 1973. Inmetro is bound to the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. It is the national institution for industrial, scientific and legal metrology as well as the national accreditation body. It is also the institution in charge of residual technical regulation, which means it is in charge of issuing technical regulation on products, processes and services not regulated by any other national regulatory agency. In addition to those activities, Inmetro is also the Brazilian enquiry point for the Agreement on Tehcnical Barriers to Trade of the World Trade Organization.
Some of the duties of Inmetro are: 1) to provide technical support for establishing the national policies on metrology and quality; 2) to development mandatory or voluntary conformity assessment programs for products and services (such as certification schemes, labelling of products, test requirements), 3) to manage the Focal Point for Technical Barriers to Trade; 4) to harbor the use of the management technique of quality by the Brazilian enterprises; 5) to promote research on scientific metrology; 6) to promote technical innovation among Brazilian industry; and others.

Public policies on eco-innovation
As a researcher on eco-innovation policies (Institute of Economics - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro), I would like to dialogue about the constitution and developement of the subnational, national or supranational systems of eco-innovation. In Brazil we have little discussion or interfaces between innovation and environmental policies, so I´m studying the european trajectory on eco-innovation to inform our policy formulation context.

Standards and environmental regulation of products and services
I would like to know and understand other national experiences in environmental regulation of products and services, such as: eco-labelling, environmental requirements for products, water efficiency, energy efficiency labels, and other issues.
