                Offer & Request

Looking for Companies, RTD's and Universities interested to collaborate in R&D project proposals.

he LEITAT's Environment & Biotechnology Division (EBT) research lines are:

                1. WATER: Treatment, sanitization, reuse, assessment.

Sustainable and innovative technology for an efficient management of the natural resources (water and raw materials), treatment and assessment of waste from different origin, and the incorporation of biotechnology and bioprocesses in the industrial sector.
Specific removal of pollutants, maximum reuse of WATER and recovery of high added value products or energy through:
                • Electrochemical processes and advanced oxidation processes: ozonization, photocatalysis, Fenton, foto-Fenton, electro-Fenton, electroxidation, electrocoagulation, electrodialysis, electrowinning.
                • Membrane technology and new selective materials: microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, inverse osmosis, direct osmosis, adsorption/biosorption.
                • Biologic/bioelectrochemical processes: Microbial Fuel Cells, MBR, specific bioremediation, phytoremediation.

                2. WASTE (Organic/inorganic): Treatment, valorization technologies, material/energy assessment

The technology sequential combination for the assessment of the vector WASTE allows the material maximum recovery, energy conversion and the obtaining of new products thanks to an integral strategy applicable to biomass and mix or complex municipal and industrial waste:
                • Mechanical, chemical and physical-chemical: hydrolysis, ozonization, sonification.
                • Thermal: pyrolysis, combustion.
                • Biotechnology: anaerobic digestion and co-digestion, enzymatic hydrolysis.

                3. INDUSTRIAL BIOTECHNOLOGY: Biocatalysis, bioprocesses

Application of industrial BIOTECHNOLOGY to obtain innovative and more efficient processes and products:
                • Bioprocesses to obtain bioproducts from substrates of renewable origin (derived from biomass, waste etc.).
                • Enzymatic biocatalysis as tool for the design of processes of more sustainable chemical synthesis and the obtaining of active ingredients in innovative consumer goods based on enzymes

                4. APPLIED MICROBIOLOGY: Biocatalysis, bioprocesses.

                5. Photovoltaic energy and associated products: Efficiency third-generation photovoltaic cells and solid-state bulbs for consumers.

                6. THERMOELECTRICITY and ELECTROLUMINISCENSE.

                7. CO2 STORAGE and RECOVERING: Reduction of gases derived from the greenhouse effect by capturing CO2 with ionic liquids.

                8. BATTERY and SUPERCONDENSER: New concepts for high-scale energy storage by optimizing Li-ion batteries. / New supercondensers based on double layer and pseudocapacitive electrochemical effects.

                9. SUSTAINABLE BIOREFINERY

We have a large experience supporting companies in, R&D project preparation, coordination and technical execution of European projects (Framework Programs and recently Horizon 2020).
